What We’ll Be Doing

Here’s the LowDown of what I’ll be doing there

Trip 1:
We will be partnering with Y-Malawi (check out their web site www.y-malawi.org). Y-Malawi is a groundbreaking model for partnership between a growing number of churches in the U.S. and frontline Christian organizations in Malawi, Africa. Together they provide community-wide, sustainable development and transformation in the areas of water and food security, healthcare, education, evangelism and discipleship, youth programs, and economic development, including micro-finance. During our 8 days on the ground, we will get an inside look into each of these key ministries. We will be able to work side-by-side our partners. Perhaps most profoundly, our team will dream, pray, and work hard at creating a “portfolio” of ways that people at Newsong can participate in this transformative work both at home & by going to Malawi. We take our task quite seriously & humbly, knowing that this trip has the potential to mobilize hundreds of people and access tens of thousands of dollars.

Trip 2
We’ll be working with Vasco, the Youth Ministry Director, who is putting on a Youth Leadership Conference for 400-800 youth. For 3 days we’ll be teaching, doing activities, spending time encouraging the youth and playing soccer! We’ll also visit villages in the Nkhoma area development project assisting hospitals and visiting those who are too sick to go to the hospitals. Within the villages, we’ll be doing different activities with youth, many who have been orphaned or affected by the AIDS epidemic. As the trip draws closer, I will give more details.
